Coming up with a new band name feels impossible.

100,000 new songs are uploaded to Spotify every day across tens of thousands of artists’ projects.

In the early days of recorded music, band names were simple:

• Air
• Bread
• Yes

Nowadays, trying to come up with a unique, original band name that hasn’t already been claimed on Spotify by another artist is harder than scaling Everest.

These days, many artists just share the same name in hopes that one of them gets popular before the others, laying de facto claim to the band name from that point forward.

I’m at an intersection now — I need to come up with a new band name for a project I’m working on.

It’s different from my old pop and electronic music, so I can’t keep using “Nicholas Roberts.”

For now, I’m going to try playing these new songs as LØVERS.

Who knows, maybe it’ll stick!
